Why was this page created?
Originally as a lark. I'd built a few generators over the years, but after creating an Anime Attack Generator I began to realize it'd be nice to have a place to put them. However, as I kept making them, I realized there were a lot I could build, and that people enjoyed them. This all originally started in 1999 or so.

What are the Generators written in?
They were originally written in JavaScript and are now written in PHP. I have no plan to return to JavaScript development, as PHP lets me create generators with simple displays that work in any browser, and can take advantage of server-side processing.

Do you update or improve the Generators?
Sometimes. It really depends on what people suggest, what I want to to, and how inspiration strikes me.

Do you ever take down a Generator?
It depends, but I have taken a few down because they weren't that useful. I also update some or combine them.

Why are some Generators in multiple categories?
Some Generators fit multiple categories and I like to decrease site navigation. I figured it was easier this way (even if it makes maintenance a bit of a pain).

I'd like to suggest a Generator, how should I do that?
That's simple: contact me. I do keep a list of requests, but what I build depends on a number of factors, from "is it fun?" to "is it useful?" to "do I have spare time." It can't hurt to suggest one though! .

The basic ideas of generator creation are simple - but the challenge is analyzing and abstracting the data. It's part art, part science. It can also involve a lot of false paths and backtracking.
